Event
I desperately want your approval…
• Feb 12th, 19th, 26th
• March 5th, 12th, 19th

Do you anxiously rehearse how to present yourself for events and meetings? Obsess over how you should dress? Get consumed about what you should say? Do you worry about being noticed, liked, and approved of, even by strangers? Do you fear missing out, and feel the need to incessantly engage on digital & social media? Finally, are you tired, pained, and disillusioned about this ceaseless need for approval that knows no bounds and offers no comfort?
If so, we invite you to immerse yourself in a 6-week meaningful experience to do the Work on your approval-seeking tendencies, while being witnessed and supported in a small safe group of dedicated individuals. Inspired by BK’s book, “I Need Your Love, Is That True?”, we will inquire into, and alchemize all of the above, in class, partner assignments, group reflections, and more. The course will start on the opportune Valentine week! 🙂
We will begin our journey by becoming acutely aware of our approval seeking thoughts and tendencies: What approval do we seek? How do we seek it? Who do we seek it from? And why, ultimately, do we seek it? As we crescendo our way through these tendencies and into the heart of our fears and beliefs, we will embody and experientially feel them before we can envision better ways. We then start to imagine a new path of being in this world: What if there was another way? How can we do this differently? As we live and embody new possibilities, we will close the arc of this journey by planting seeds in our minds and bodies through the various experiences in and outside of class.

About the course facilitators

Amel Arhab is a Los Angeles based executive coach and clinical hypnotherapist who works with leaders and organizations experiencing major life shifts, by exploring the art & science of powerful transformation. She combines a keen understanding of human nature, the latest in cutting-edge science, and timeless wisdom from ancient traditions to develop influential mindsets, support potent behaviors, and optimize relational dynamics. Amel has been a highly committed student of The Work for over a decade.
After meeting Deepa at the 2023 School for the Work, these two have become dedicated partners for the Work on a weekly basis, and co-hosted the last season of the BK Book club together. Amel uses The Work as one of many powerful modalities in her coaching and hypnotherapy practice. She plans this course as an additional way to move the Work in the world; helping individuals and couples heal and transform, one belief at a time!

Deepa Swamy has been a follower of spiritual teachings for a decade and a regular practitioner of the Work since 2022. She has been an active participant in several Schools, workshops and ITW offerings, and was on track to become a Certified Facilitator of the Work before the ITW shut down. Deepa picked up the book “I Need Your Love, Is That True”, when worksheets kept pointing her to themes of self-respect and found this book to be a supportive track to the Work to grow in Earth School. She started the BK Book Club in an attempt to delve deeper into her approval-seeking tendencies, while offering a learning space for others in the same boat, and to reflect in a safe communal setting. Deepa knows her quest for respect is still ongoing, and she is called to revisit the book whenever the ego needs a gentle nudge 🙂
Deepa has initiated several other voluntary activities, such as the Work for Breakfast in Asia time, Moving the Work in the World learning group, besides her regular practice in doing and facilitating the Work.
Through this course, she hopes to use the lens of approval to help herself and course participants inquire deeply into our own truths.
