I need your love…is it true?

I need your love…is it true?

In line with Hollywood romantic movies and Disney’s happily ever after, did you grow up expecting a perfect prince(ess) charming and a fairytale bliss-filled relationship? Have you become confused by how love turned out for you? Maybe every time you thought “I finally found love”, your partner did or said something that made you question the whole romantic love thing?

After all, what is the definition of romantic love? Is it doing things for each other, supporting one another, matching effort for effort? Is it having the same values and driving towards the same life vision? Does it require moulding each other to fit our needs? Where does the line between compromise and authenticity lie?

Or…is there a different way to love?

One where we honour ourselves while working towards our love? Where we don’t seek the other’s approval nor withdraw ours? Where differences can be respected and our collective love honored? Can truth and love co-exist? Or is this naive and delusional?

Let’s find out together: we invite you to a meaningful experiential 6-week immersive journey anchored in the Work and inspired by BK’s revolutionary book “I need your love: is that true?”

In this course, we will  question our assumptions and beliefs about what love is or isn’t, what is our relationship to romantic love and expectations of it, and what tender truths may it be connected to. Through experiential exercises, inner inquiries, and group shares, we will question our beliefs about romantic love, should’s and shouldnt’s in our relationships, and explore a different way of giving and receiving love. Though romantic love will be the primary focus of the course design, the course work can equally apply to love in all forms of relationships.

Week 1: Meeting true love

Week 2: Which part of me loves and which doesn’t?

Week 3: If you love me, you will do what I want

Week 4: If I love you, I will do what you want

An optional 4-week aftercare program will be available to those who would like to continue and deepen the work (at no extra cost).

What participants are saying:

« Doing the work by Byron Katie takes a lot of vulnerability and an honest look at yourself and circumstances. Amel and Deepa hold your hand through the process. Both seasoned in The Work for themselves and facilitating others, they seem to live the practice and support in a way that creates a safe space for you to step into a path of self realization. » – Stephanie O. (New Orleans, LA)

« This class was fantastic! Deepa and Amel were wonderful hosts and I appreciated their presence, authenticity, and level of preparedness. They guided us lovingly through well-thought-out exercises and created a beautiful safe space for self-discovery and open sharing.I got so much out of this class and wholeheartedly recommend it! » – Judith P. (Memphis, TN)

« I’ve struggled with negative body image for as long as I can remember. In my teens and twenties, it led to an eating disorder. Amel and Deepa’s course, Coming Home to My Body, gave me the opportunity to explore and question some of the early beliefs I had adopted. Both Amel and Deepa shared openly and vulnerably about their own experiences with their bodies, which helped create a safe and supportive space for us to examine some of the darker, more hidden aspects of our own stories—things I had previously felt too embarrassed to admit or talk about. As the course progressed, I noticed my perspectives and beliefs about my body shifting toward a kinder, more free, and peaceful approach. Thank you, Amel and Deepa! I deeply appreciate your thoughtful facilitation and your generosity in making yourselves available to do The Work with me outside of class time. » -irit D (Berkeley, CA)

« In this class I explored, systematically, my beliefs about my body. Using Byron Katie’s four questions of inquiry and the turn arounds to question my beliefs about my body.  For me the body includes working on my mind, my ego, my emotions and my body. The questions started me working through my beliefs about my body to enable me to find in my inner self the reality that has always been waiting there, and my inner beliefs may have been covered over by thoughts, beliefs, my ego, and emotions. In the Body Course I was able to begin to see, I am not my body, my thoughts, my emotions or my feelings. They are separate entities that seemingly exist inside me, for the purpose of protection of me I suppose. I questioned my body beliefs. This had the effect of freeing me to see my body more realistically. I can see my body as separate from me. I have more work to do on my body. I continue to question my beliefs about my body. I discovered so much about this body I call mine and the beliefs I carry about my body through this course. Thank You Deepa and Amel for facilitating and providing this very valuable class to us. » – Chris P (Monterey, CA)

«I recently took a course called “I Need Your Approval, Is It True?” from Deepa and Amel, and I enjoyed it very much and got a lot out of it. Seeking love and approval from others is one of my core motivations and one of the hardest topics to work through as part of Byron Katie’s The Work. Both Deepa and Amel provided a safe and supportive space, and they were conscientious and well-prepared. I know that any course Deepa and Amel give will be valuable and a safe space where learning and self-knowledge are fully supported!» – Simon M. (Sherman Oaks, CA)

About the course facilitators

Amel Arhab

Amel Arhab is a Los Angeles based executive coach and clinical hypnotherapist who works with leaders and organizations experiencing major life shifts, by exploring the art & science of powerful transformation. She combines a keen understanding of human nature, the latest in cutting-edge science, and timeless wisdom from ancient traditions to develop influential mindsets, support potent behaviors, and optimize relational dynamics. Amel has been a highly committed student of The Work for over a decade.

After meeting Deepa at the 2023 School for the Work, these two have become dedicated partners for the Work on a weekly basis, and co-hosted the last season of the BK Book club together. They have created and delivered a course curriculum on love and social approval of which this is the third in the series (see website for other courses on this topic). Amel uses The Work as one of many powerful modalities in her coaching and hypnotherapy practice. She plans this course as an additional way to move the Work in the world; helping individuals and couples heal and transform, one belief at a time!

Deepa Swamy

Deepa Swamy has been a follower of spiritual teachings for a decade and a regular practitioner of the Work since 2022. She has been an active participant in several Schools, workshops and ITW offerings, and was on track to become a Certified Facilitator of the Work before the ITW was closed. Deepa picked up the book “I Need Your Love, Is That True”, when worksheets kept pointing her to themes of self-respect and found this book to be a supportive track to the Work to grow in Earth School. She started the BK Book Club in an attempt to delve deeper into her approval-seeking tendencies, while offering a learning space for others in the same boat, and to reflect in a safe communal setting. Deepa knows her quest for respect is still ongoing, and she is called to revisit the book whenever the ego needs a gentle nudge 🙂

Deepa has initiated several other voluntary activities, such as the Work for Breakfast in Asia time, Moving the Work in the World learning group, besides her regular practice in doing and facilitating the Work.

Through this course, she hopes to use the lens of seeking love to help herself and course participants inquire deeply into our own truths.
